Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009

Definition:

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 (the Fair Pay Act) amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to extend the statute of limitations for filing discrimination claims. Previously the statute of limitations was 180 days; the new law states that the statute of limitations is reset with each discriminatory paycheck, which moves the filing date out to 180 days from the last paycheck.

President Barak Obama signed the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law on January 29, 2009.
