February Business Taxes and Reports Due

Here are the business taxes and due dates for those taxes which must be reported and paid in February. 


This calendar shows the monthly deposit date for payroll taxes. If you have a large payroll, you should make payroll tax deposits according to the semiweekly deposit rule; the semiweekly deposit dates are not shown on this calendar. 1. February 17 - Deposit Payroll Taxes for January (If You File Monthly)

If your payroll tax liability for the "look back period" (the last 12 months ending June 30) were less than $50,000, you must make payroll tax deposits monthly.

2. February 29 - Submit 2009 W-3 Forms to Social Security (with W-2s)

By February 29, 2011, you must prepare and submit W-3 transmittal form to the Social Security Administration for all employees, along with all W-2 Wage and Tax forms.

3. February 28 - Submit Form 1096 to Social Security Administration (with 1099s)

By February 28, you must submit Form 1096 transmittal form to the Social Security Administration for all independent contractors, along with all Forms 1099-MISC. Since in 2010 February 28 is a Sunday, you have until March 1 to submit the forms.

4. February 28 - File Form 2290, Pay Tax for Heavy Vehicles Purchased in January

If your business purchased a heavy truck (taxable vehicle weight of 55,000 pounds or more) in January, you must file Form 2290 and pay an annual vehicle tax by the end of February. Since February 28 is a Sunday in 2010, you have until Monday, March 2, to file the form and pay this tax.
