U.S. State Offices of Economic Development

By Jean Murray, About.com

Every state wants to encourage businesses to locate in their state. Some do it better than others.

For information on grants and tax incentives available to small businesses, go to the website of your state Office of Economic Development (the names may be slightly different in each state).

Don't confuse these state agencies with Small Business Development Centers, which are SBA partner organizations located in colleges and universities.
