Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

A Unique Selling Proposition, usually called a "USP," is a term that designates the primarily focus of a business. The USP of a business is what makes it unique and different from all other businesses. A USP for a pizza restaurant, for example, is what makes this pizza place different from all other pizza places. The USP might emphasize types of customers served, product characteristics, special types of service, or other qualities.

Creating a USP is an important initial step in starting a business.
