Definition:

The terms exit plan and exit planning relate to the plan of a business owner to leave the business. The "exit" might be due to bankruptcy, to some disaster causing the business to stop operating. It might also be planned, such as retirement or sale of the business.

Some experts advise that an exit plan should be part of an overall business plan.
