Here are the business taxes and due dates for those taxes which must be reported and paid in August.
This calendar shows the monthly deposit date for payroll taxes. 1. August 2 - Deposit Federal Unemployment Taxes Owed Through June
Second quarter federal unemployment (FUTA) taxes for larger employers are due in August. If your FUTA Tax liability in any one quarter is more than $500, you must make a deposit by the last day of the month after the end of the quarter. The deposit would normally have to be made by July 31, but since that day falls on a weekend in 2010, the FUTA deposit is due August 2.2. If your payroll tax liability for the "look back period" (the last 12 months ending June 30) was less than $50,000, you must make payroll tax deposits monthly. If you file monthly, deposit payroll taxes forJuly by August 16 (August 15 is a Sunday) .
3. August 31 - File Form 2290, Pay Tax for Heavy Vehicles Purchased in July
If you purchased a heavy vehicle (gross taxable weight 55,000 pounds or more in July, you must file Form 2290 and pay the annual tax on this vehicle by the end of August.
