TaxCut and TurboTax Pricing Update

Monday December 29, 2008

In response to a comment on my post updating you on TurboTax vs. Tax Cut, I was asked to clarify pricing. Now that TurboTax has changed its pricing structure to include multiple returns and e-files, the two programs are more comparable in features. Here are the details:

Price

TurboTax Home and Business: The online version is $74.95, for federal + e-file, but no state. The download/CD version is $99.95, including federal e-file and state.

Tax Cut Home and Business is $79.95, with 5 free federal e-files, 1 personal state, and unlimited business states.

Returns Included
TurboTax Home and Business includes personal returns and Schedule C for sole proprietorship/single-member LLCs. No corporate or partnership returns are included; the Business version of TurboTax must be purchased to access these returns.

Tax Cut Home and Business includes personal returns, Schedule C, and all corporate and partnership returns and forms.

Formats Supported
TurboTax Home and Business can be purchased in an online version for both Windows and Mac (that's the $74.95 version I mentioned above). You can download the $99.95 version to both Windoes or Mac, or purchase the CD, which contains both Windows and Mac.

TaxCut Home and Business is available as Windows download or CD. It is not available in a Mac version.

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if you have more questions about these applications.
