Oops! Did You Make a Mistake on Your Business Tax Return?

Tuesday April 15, 2008
Did you file your business tax return on April 15? Did you check the return after you mailed or e-diled it and found an error? It happens all the time. I had to amend my return for an LLC I am a member of, and we didn't get our information together until too late. The form you use to file depends on your form of organization. Here are a couple of thing you need to know about filing amended business tax returns:
  • Even if you filed your original return electronically, you must file your amended return in paper format. You can't e-file an amended return.
  • you can check the status of an amended return by calling the IRS at (800) 829-1040 .
  • The IRS says it takes 8 to 12 weeks to process an amended return.
