Every Month Is Tax Month: January = W-2 Forms

Thursday January 17, 2008

Individual taxpayers worry about paying their taxes on April 15. Businesses have many more taxes to pay, at many more times during the year. Each month on US Business Law/Taxes, I’ll remind you about tax filings or payments that are due in that month.

January = W-2 Forms. January is the month for calculating and sending out W-2 forms to all employees to report their income for last year (January 1 through December 31). You must get the forms into the hands of employees no later than January 31.

File Electronically. You can file your W-2 forms electronically using the Social Security Administration’s “Business Services Online” system. You can give employees their copies electronically, if they agree.
